Gort Cancer Support was established in June 2007 to provide support and practical assistance to people affected by a cancer diagnosis. We adopt a holistic approach towards our clients and their family members by providing a range of activities and social events which will enhance our clients wellbeing and coping skills. Our cancer support centre is managed and operated by trained volunteers with the assistance of administrative staff and professional therapists. We offer a home from home environment where one will feel relaxed and welcome.
Our Registered Charity Number (RCN) is 20075927.

World Cancer Day is observed annually on February 4th, serving as a global initiative to raise awareness & educate people about cancer.
This year's theme for World Cancer Day is "United by Unique," which will be the focus from 2025 to 2027. The theme emphasizes the importance of recognizing & valuing the unique experiences & needs of each individual affected by cancer. It aims to put people at the centre of cancer care, ensuring that their stories & personal journeys are at the heart of the conversation.
As we reflect on this day, we also remember those in our community who are affected by a cancer diagnosis. If you or someone you know is facing cancer, please reach out to our support centre on 086 1724500. We are here to offer support & guidance to help you navigate this challenging journey.

Imbolc is traditionally celebrated on February 1st. This date marks the midpoint between the winter solstice & the spring equinox, symbolizing the gradual return of light. This celebration marks the beginning of a new season filled with hope & growth.
Today is also St. Brigid’s Day (Lá Fhéile Bríde), a day dedicated to honouring Ireland’s only female patron saint. This day is not only a celebration of her legacy but also a time to recognize & celebrate the talent and creativity of women everywhere.
Imbolc & St. Brigid’s Day together symbolize renewal, inspiration & the enduring strength of women.
